The Mayflower Pilgrims

Many years after the Mayflower Pilgrims arrived in America, their long-serving governor recalled,
there were "no friends to welcome them, nor inns to entertain or refresh their weather-beaten bodies, no houses or much less towns to repair to, to seek comfort.”
The fledgling community of 102 weary people - half of whom died during their first winter in America - was on its own. Despite overwhelming challenges, the colony took root and slowly began to thrive.
